Pearsons Contracting, our local contractor has completed what is locally termed ‘flipping’ areas within the subdivision that were impacted by an underlying iron pan (also known as Pakihi).
Flipping is where the excavator reaches down between 2 – 3 meters to break up the iron pan layer that prevents moisture transfer down through the soil. The outcome of this process is significantly improved drainage on the areas of sites within the subdivision; our next step is to sew grass seeds during early autumn.
We have not flipped within building areas on sites that contained the pakihi as the iron pan layer provides an excellent base for floor preparation.
